I’m nobody’s child
I’m nobody’s child
I’m like a flower just growing wild
There’s no mommy’s kisses and no daddy’s smiles
Nobody wants me I’m nobody’s child
I was slowly passin’ an orphan’s home one day
And stop there for a moment just to watch the children play
Alone a boy was standin’ and when I asked him [...]

Would I?

I’m in that stage of my unpregnancy where I’m thinking about choices and the decisions other people make. What would I do if the choice or decision was mine to make?
Would I terminate a long awaited pregnancy if I was informed that there are some abnormalities? Would we confer about the issue and decide together [...]

. . . NOT!
I long for a nice summer holiday anywhere, not specifically at the beach, but just away from home and work and the Xmas rush.
But, as they say: no rest for the wicked, so here I will stay, slaving away. Hmmm, that even rhymes . . .
We’re still pondering the baby-thing: now we [...]
They smell your fear . . .
Posted in Children on November 6, 2008 | 4 Comments »
One thinks that babies – like animals – are able to smell or feel fear. They tune into your emotions and suck it up like a dry sponge. One has this idea: the more agitated the mother/handler becomes due to a baby that does not stop crying, the more the baby cries and the bigger [...]
Do babies do music?

One often wonders what the effect (if any) of music on an unborn baby is. One knows that they can hear in the womb, or then “experience” if not hearing, but will it stimulate your unborn into becoming a genius or at least a Mozart?

What’s in a name?

Since we started thinking about getting pregnant, we’ve been thinking of names for the as-yet-unconcieved-baby of ours. We’ve moved past the family names as we do not want to burden our child with a backbreaking load of names to carry through his/her life. Life is difficult enough as it is.
We’ve come up with Nico for [...]

When your baby is sick or got hurt, what do you do?
A: Dress up and do your hair as if going to a formal function, dress up baby in his/her best clothes and only then leave for hospital?
B: Leave as you are and end up seeing the doctor with a puked-on-on-the-way t-shirt so that baby [...]
Handle with care . . . or not?
Posted in Children on September 22, 2008 | 4 Comments »
One has to thank the mother of one’s godchildren for one’s ability to handle children without breaking them. For handling them without fear of chipping, cracking or melting.
One did not have the aptitude and ability (that comes naturally with motherhood) to handle small, multiple- appendix, wriggling objects with a will of their own. One did [...]

How in the world do you book yourself AND your 5-day-old-2-months-prem-1.5kg-baby out of the hospital because there is no warm water and the nurses are irritating? Because you haven’t slept in days? One wonders how you can’t grasp the idea that this is NOT about you, the mother, and how you can not understand that [...]
